When Running Your Business, Be the Scarecrow

I’m a big fan of the stock market and most
of the time I do pretty well (if I do say
so myself).

It works for me because I listened to the
masters of investing. I spent countless
hours enrolled in Automobile University-
listening to investment tapes in my car.

…and I found a common theme.

Common themes are ALWAYS good when you see
a trend across a lot of successful people.

I found that you need to have a system, to
take your mind out of the picture because it
will play tricks on you.

I found that no matter how good you are, your
emotions will always win if you don’t have a
system.

Now, I’m not here to talk about stocks, so I
won’t (maybe that’s for another newsletter).

What I will say is that you need to create
your own business system.

You need to be the scarecrow in the Wizard of
Oz
… no brains.

Your mind can play tricks on you sometimes.

You may take on clients that are against your
better judgment.

You may accept a new product that isn’t quite
to your standards, or you could make an
investment decision that you KNEW would lose
money.

With a system, all you have to do is plug in
the numbers. If they work, green light.

If they don’t work, run away. It’s that easy.

Of course the real world isn’t that easy (I’m
not a complete idiot), but with a blueprint
for the right direction and a head stuffed full
of straw instead of nasty, useful brains, you
can really build an amazing business.

The foundation of your plan is your Unique
Selling Proposition (USP). Without it, your
marketing plan and the look of your business
will be all over the place.
