The Press Release…or How to Get Famous- Quick

by Joshua Black

Ever wonder how some small business owners
become rock stars overnight?

Wonder how you can actually get noticed by
one of the big news agencies or a radio
station?

Well today I’ve got your answer.

It’s all in the press release.

Now, admittedly I am not a complete expert on
this subject, because I have shied away from
it in the past…

Since I don’t really want to be on TV, so
instead I’m including a link to the people
that can tell you all about it if you’re
interested.

Although I do plan on using this service
soon.

It’s called PR Newswire.

It’s the national service that 85,000 different
media outlets use to get their news.

Yep, that’s 85,000 newspapers, radio stations, tv
channels, and websites all out there scrounging
for the latest and greatest information.

This translates into your message being seen by
hundreds of millions of people if it’s compelling
enough to get printed.

You do have to pay to subscribe to the newswire,
which is about $200/year, but once your in, you
can distribute as many press releases as you want.

…and you also get access to their huge database
of infomation.

They have a great site for start-up small business
owners, so I thought that I’d share it with
you today.

There’s a whole media kit with sample releases etc.

Now, if you are really working from the ground up,
you can mail or fax your press releases for free,
one your own. You local library will have a huge
guide that contains many of the names and addresses
of the contacts for these releases.

Before you send out your release, make sure that
you have created a media kit for your company.

You may get calls within a few hours, you may get
a call in a few months, or maybe never, but when
someone calls for your information you need to get
it to them ASAP.

This can also get you as a guest on a TV show if
your product or business is compelling enough and
deals with current events in some way.

The best part about all of this is that the
publicity is free and you can use the “as seen on
CNN” quote in your marketing material for the life
of your business after that.

Having someone write about your business in ANY
form is incredibly valuable and worth a look.
