The Show Must Go On…

I feel like complete crap today. I’ve got
a really bad cold that feels like an alien
is living inside my skull.

…sooo, due to that fact, today’s Tip Sheet
is gonna be really brief.

Hopefully we will be back to our regularly
scheduled program tomorrow.

You see, my cold gave me an idea about how
we need to operate our businesses.

Once you have convinced your customer that
you are the only business in town that can
solve their specific problem, you have to
make sure that you keep delivering on that
promise.

Just like the post office “neither rain nor
sleet nor snow…” you have to keep delivering
day after day.

A sale is one of the most fragile creatures
you have available to you in the business
world.

Anything, and I mean anything can cause a
sale to go south.

Customers have no loyalty, and those that
are loyal are fairly easily distracted by
something new and shiny over here.

Therefore, you have to keep delivering on your
original USP. You have to keep that experience
the same no matter how bad you feel when you
wake up in the morning.

This is where the customers keep coming back.

The show must go on every single day. If your
customers notice that your business is starting
to falter they might drop you like a hot sack
of potatoes.

Wow, I feel so crappy I’m not even going to
recommend a product for you to buy today.

Time to get back to my chicken soup.

Networking- Get Caught Stealing

Today’s Tip Sheet is all about how to
steal. No, not the kind where you knock
over a liquor store or rob an old lady.

I’m talking about stealing the attention
of your customers by helping them get
what they want.

The famous speaker Zig Ziglar frequently
says that in order to get what you want,
you need to help other people get what
they want first.

Here, you might refer one of your customers

be very successful at it.

Boredom Makes You Rich?

I want to tell you a personal story today,
something that my Grandmother used to tell
me when I was little.

She said “never say that you are bored. It
just means that you aren’t thankful for the 
time you have.”

I will never forget those words and to this
day you will NEVER hear the words “I’m bored”

Until recently I also operated under the
misconception that I have to fill every waking
moment doing SOMETHING.

However, I was listening to a book on CD in
my car yesterday (yes, it drives all of my
passengers insane. I probably have 300 books
on tape in my car and 5 music CDs).

On this particular CD the author said that
it was OK to be bored…

I almost crashed my car.

There was no way that my grandmother was wrong.

It turns out she wasn’t. It was me that didn’t
get the whole message.

Sometimes you need to just sit and do NOTHING.
However, the act of doing nothing is SOMETHING.

This is not boredom out of the fact that you
just don’t appreciate the time you have. It’s
deliberate boredom.

This is a time to re-set your subconscious so
that you can answer some of the most powerful
questions in your life.

When you fill your day with all of the
different rinky-dink problems in your business,
you don’t get the time to REALLY solve the big
problems.

…like financial freedom

…like providing for your family

…like obtaining all of your personal goals.
Well, with a small re-set by just sitting and
thinking, not watching TV or doing anything else.

Just think clearly about the things you want
to accomplish and you can come up with some amazing
ideas.

Use Up-Selling to Make More Dough

Up-selling has been used for many years.

“Do you want fries with that?” is a
statement that brought McDonald’s out of
a huge sales slump many years ago.

Even thought they don’t say it any more,
it has become a pop-culture term for all
kinds of social situations.

Who would have thought that up-selling
could  turn into that…

Anyway, the time to up-sell your client
is AFTER they have agreed to make the
initial purchase.

This is the point when they have finally
let down their guard of skepticism. They
are excited, relieved and happy that they
are making a new purchase.

This is where the magic takes place.

Here is where you offer complimentary
products and/or services that go along with
the purchase that the customer is making.

To make these situations even more powerful,
you can offer services that are ONLY available
at the time of up-sell for a given package price.

The offer has to be truth, however. The
special deal can’t be something that they
can get anywhere else.

Since the person’s guard is down, they will be
much more open to the idea of adding just one
more purchase to the total sale.

“Hey, I already spent $4500, what’s $100 more
going to do to me?”

With each sale that you close, consider adding
the up-sell every time.  You will be surprised at
the amount of extra revenue that comes in.

5 FREE Ways to Get More Customers

Hope your having a good Friday. Today’s
Tip Sheet is going to be short and sweet
because I’ve got a lot going on.

Here are 5 FREE things that you can do
to get more customers. Some of them
you might already know about and some
of them you may not.

Here we go.

1. Your business cards- Keep them on
you at all times. Give them away like water
instead of holding onto them like gold.

Use both sides! The back should read like
a mini sales letter. Don’t leave the back
blank. It’s a crime.

Give them to everyone you are introduced to
in ANY social situation. People love to
refer people to other businesses. If you
make a good first impression, you can get
more business from the strangest places.

2. Interview and expert about a topic that
your business deals with, or have someone
interview you. Create it as a podcast and
give it away all over the net for big
exposure. Email a link to your customers.

3. Always have a call to action in every
marketing piece you send out. Nothing should
leave your business without asking the
customer to do something.

4. Join a network of other business
owners. This can be one of your biggest
assets for making great contacts and getting
a huge pile of new referrals.

5. Last but not least, teach a free seminar
at your local business association, library,
Masonic lodge, or anywhere else you can give
away a lecture. Give people valuable advice
over 1 hour and then pass out business cards
at the end. Don’t make it a sales pitch, but
don’t hide the fact that you are in business.

Film the whole thing and put the video on
your site either for sale or for free. Never
duplicate work. If you can film it and sell it,
do it.
