Sitting here in the Atlanta airport waiting
for the rest of my red-eye flight to the
beaches of New Jersey to board.
Sooooo, I thought I would send out the next
installment of the Tip Sheet while I have
some time to kill.
Today is all about the rat race and how you
need to get off the wheel as fast as you can
or it will kill you.
While I was at the dollar store yesterday,
getting some balloons for my girlfriend’s
birthday, I came across a sweet book.
You see, bookaholics like me have to look
in sneaky places to find reading material.
Well I came across a sweet find. It’s
a book about a pilot/editor for Forbes
magazine that travels across the U.S.
looking for people that have moved from
making BIG BUXXXXX in the city, to a
more simple life in the country, or small
city.
It’s something that I kinda figured out
by my own life, but this book is really
hitting the point home.
Why are we killing ourselves with 5 hour
commutes, huge McMansions that we don’t
own, and JOBs that take up 18-46 hours
per day sucking our lives dry.
Well I say DOWN WITH THE DAY JOB!
DOWN WITH THE COMMUTE!
DOWN WITH KEEPING UP WITH THE JONES’S!
Keep plugging away at your businesses.
If you can, arrange it so you can operate
your business from anywhere in the world.
Even better, arrange your business so that
it will operate without you even being
there.
I made that decision a few years ago with
100% information products. In the middle of
the night my sites are selling to people I
will never meet, from all over the world.
There is NO commute with an info-products
business.
There is NO rat race. It’s only limited to
the size you want it to be.
The Jones’s don’t even know about information
products, so I really don’t have to worry
about keeping up with THEM.
You can do this with your business too.
If you have a physical product, you can
use a fulfillment house to house and ship
your product.
If you are running a service business, you
can clone your seminars and speeches,
turning your information into a product
that you can sell.
The best way to boost your business is to
multiply yourself and then make it so you
don’t have to be there.
We’re all in business to improve the quality
of our lives, right?
So why on earth should we live like rats in
a wheel?
If all of these executives are fleeing their
office jail cells and long commutes, then
maybe we can learn from them.
Pick your quality of life first, then mold
your business around it.
If you go the other way around, then your
business can eat you alive and your health
to go with it.
Take a deep breath and look around at your
situation. If you don’t like it, CHANGE IT!
Start now, not in ten minutes, not tomorrow.
Only you can do it, and your lifestyle can
be whatever the heck you want it to be.
