Entrepreneurs Must Stick to Their Knitting

by Joshua Black

Welcome to another day of the Underdog
Millionaire Tip Sheet.

Today I wanted to quickly chat about
some of the fundamentals that you business
owners should think about before you go
start your next big idea.

It goes back to an old saying that my
mom used to use.

You’ve gotta stick to your knitting.

…which means that you need to stay
with what you’re good at, where you are
most needed.

It’s so easy to get bogged down with
minutea when you are trying to build
your own little empire.

You’ve got the business cards and the
new computer, the lisencing and the
hiring, the signage and the web site,
not to mention the product development.

…but there are some things that you
need to so that your new baby doesn’t
go down in a giant ball of fire.

Here are the 3 things that you need
to concentrate on every day while you
are building your business, sometimes
at the expense of doing some stuff that
you think is more fun (like designing
your new office):

1. Sell, sell, sell- every single day
you need to get you product into the
hot little hands of your customers or
there will be no business.

A business is not a business until the
sale is made.

2. Work on your marketing- If you don’t
promote your business consistently there
will be no business.

A business is not a business until a
sale is made.

3. Build your support system- You need to
create a business network in order to survive
the coming storms. Almost all businesses
created today will not reach their 5th birthday,
so you need all the support you can get.

Not only will you get support from a network
but you will also get a ton of free customers
and bartered services as well.

I have created a new formula for building a
small business network, no matter what business
you are in.

It’s going to be out really soon, and I will
let you know when that happens.

If can learn to put some of the “fun” projects
aside and work on the “knitting” first, not
only will your business thrive, but you
will be much less stressed in the process.

Knit one, purl twice.
(If you don’t know what that means, don’t worry)

Until Tomorrow,
Joshua Black
