</p><p>A little bit ago I asked for your most burning question&#8230; you know, that one that keeps you up at night, sweating through your sheets, just hoping it will go away.</p>

<div>Well, I got one back from multiple folks that seems to sum it up quite nicely:</div>
<div> </div>
<h3>How are you supposed to find out what your customer&#8217;s pain is and then where do you find those customers to sell them lots of stuff and get rich?</h3>
<div>I wish there was a single, simple answer to that. Then no entrepreneur would have to go through the five gates of hell to try and figure out how to make their idea profitable.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>However, since I&#8217;ve gone thought those gates a couple times with my own lame-brained ideas, I can give you a few shortcuts on the matter.</div>
<div> </div>
<div><strong></strong> </div>
<div><strong>Here are 5 tricks that you can use to find your customer&#8217;s pain:</strong></div>
<div> </div>
<div><strong>1. Use the Google keyword search tool.</strong> Just do a Google search for it. It will be number one. Type in the word or phrase that you thinking about turning into a business and you will get all the associated keywords, along with their search frequency, in return.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>If you want to use AdWords (gasp!) it will also tell you how much competition there is for each keyword.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>It doesn&#8217;t matter if you have an on-line business or not, you MUST have a web site, because the phone book is almost dead&#8230; (although I did just use one to find someone to cut down a tree that just fell on my house, but I went straight to their website before calling).</div>
<div> </div>
<div><strong>2. Survey the customers that you have already&#8230;</strong> even if there are only four of them. Just like what I did with you. I asked what keeps you up at night, and you told me&#8230; now we&#8217;re here with this Tip Sheet&#8230; see how that works?</div>
<div> </div>
<div><strong>3. Improve a HOT idea by just 10%</strong>. Facebook wasn&#8217;t first by a long-shot. The iPod wasn&#8217;t first by a long shot. These are the ones that waited for hot market to develop and then just tweaked the idea and made it better.  It&#8217;s A LOT easier to improve on something that people are already drooling over like zombies, instead of trying to create a market out of nothing.</div>
<div> </div>
<div><strong>4. Ask EVERYONE that you know</strong>. Don&#8217;t be the person that thinks they have an original idea and refuses to share it with anyone because you think that it might get STOLEN&#8230; horse poop I say!</div>
<div> </div>
<div>Tell everyone. If you have no business yet and you think you might be onto something, then ask the people that will be straight with you about whether or not your idea sucks. If you see them go from a glazed-over look to a look of &#8220;WOW!&#8221; then you might be onto something Sherlock.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>If you see that look change, then you have found a pain to solve.</div>
<div> </div>
<div><strong>5. Get that thing in front of a REAL customer NOW</strong>. There will always be a 2.0 and a 3.0 of your business. It&#8217;s never going to be perfect, so it&#8217;s important to get it out there ASAP to see if people want what your selling.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>You can do all the research that you want, but people will eventually vote with their wallets. If they likey then the buyee&#8230; if they no likey, well you need to fail fast and get back on the proverbial horse and try another idea until you get one that sticks.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>If you have an idea that solves a burning pain for your customer, they will buy it like hotcakes. Solve the pain and they will come.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>Products that are a pleasure provider (vacations etc.) can be easily put off until later. Pain, on the other hand, must be solved now, and at almost any cost (aka. the tree on my house).</div>
<div> </div>
<div>So, now that you found something that people like, something that cures their pain&#8230; how do you go about matching those silly customers with your awesome, game-changing idea?</div>
<div> </div>
<div>One word.</div>
<div> </div>
<h2>Marketing.</h2>
<div> </div>

<p><strong>Specialists:</strong></p>
<p>This is a group of bloggers that have picked a successful niche and have gained a really solid following, due to the content they provide, the atmosphere they create, and the personality that really comes through in their blogs.</p>

His posts range from spectacular book reviews, to random thoughts, from weight lifting advice, to sage wisdom. Always worth a look on a daily basis.</p>
<p><strong><a href="http://www.menwithpens.ca">Men With Pens</a></strong>- This is a site for writers. Not only does this group own their own web design and consulting company, but the frequent posts here offer some really good advice for fine-tuning your writing and improving your value to your market.</p>
<p><strong><a href="http://www.procopytips.com/">ProCopy Tips</a></strong>- This is a copywriting blog that, in my humble opinion is a place that is a hidden gem, discovered by only a few.  It&#8217;s run by a life-long direct-response copywriter named Dean Rieck.  He gives away some great basic copywriting advice and even posts frequently on Copyblogger.</p>
<p><strong><a href="http://www.thesimpledollar.com/">The Simple Dollar</a></strong>- This is a personal finance/money blog by Trent Hamm. He has a cult-like following as well. He covers everything from investing, to debt removal, to bankruptcy and has authored a few books. Great site if you like money at all.</p></blockquote>
<p><strong>My Friends and Underdogs:</strong></p>
<p>This is a group of up-and-coming bloggers that is really trying to make a difference in their respective markets. They haven&#8217;t hit the big time just yet, but I know they will, just based on the content and services they provide. These guys are definitely people to keep and eye on.</p>
<blockquote><p><strong><a href="http://tommydipietro.com/">Tommy DePietro</a></strong>- This guy is serious business. He runs a MLM marketing advice blog, has a ton of videos and is very passionate about his work. Tommy is really going somewhere.  He has been a frequent commenter on the Underdog Millionaire since the beginning.</p>
<p><strong><a href="http://alexwhalley.com/">Alex Whalley</a></strong>- Alex is a really honest guy with a big heart. His blog focuses on keywords, SEO, and niche marketing. His posts are very thorough and he has come a LONG way in a short time.</p>

<p>It has been quite a year over here at the Underdog Millionaire. I&#8217;ve made a ton of new friends, created some great new products to help you grow your business and sold a ton of those products as well.</p>

<p>This latest one is a great tip for<br />
finding exactly what you want from your<br />
customers.</p>
<p>We were teaching a group of children and<br />
one of the kids was particularly noisy that<br />
day.</p>
<p>My teacher asked him &#8220;how many ears do you have?&#8221;<br />
&#8230;kid says &#8220;2&#8243;</p>
<p>My teacher asks &#8220;how many eyes do you have?&#8221;<br />
&#8230;kid says &#8220;2&#8243;</p>
<p>My teacher finally asks &#8220;how many mouths do you<br />
have?&#8221;<br />
&#8230;kid says &#8220;1, of course&#8221;<br />
My teacher then says &#8220;then you should always be<br />
watching and listening twice as much as you are<br />
talking&#8221;</p>
<p>This is exactly what you should be doing around<br />
your customers. Each time you interact with them,<br />
you have the ability to gain information about<br />
what they like, dislike, and ideas for future<br />
projects.</p>
<p>Instead of just shuffling our feet and hoping<br />
that you can get out of there and go play golf,<br />
try to REALLY listen to what the person is saying.</p>
<p>Maybe your widget has a fatal flaw.</p>
<p>Maybe your customer service needs some tweaking.</p>
<p>Maybe your customer is just dying to tell someone<br />
the greatest, million dollar idea in the world.</p>
<p>&#8230;or perhaps you just want to know where you<br />
stand with them and whether or not they are looking<br />
for a new supplier.</p>
<p>You can find out all of this stuff by watching<br />
and listening twice as much as you are talking.</p>
<p>Your customers will think you are wise and you<br />
will gain some really important research intel<br />
in the process.</p>

<p>Well, I guess it&#8217;s not that censored at all.</p>
<p>But, what if there was a way to legally get all<br />
of the services that you normally have to pay for<br />
in your business?</p>
<p>What if there was a way that you could trade<br />
your craft for the work of others and not have<br />
pull a penny out of your pocket?</p>
<p>What if there was a way that you could do this<br />
and NOT get in trouble with the law?</p>
<p>Well, there is.</p>
<p>Welcome to the world of bartering, a huge, integral<br />
part of the bigger universe of networking.<br />

<p>With bartering, you are going to take a service<br />
that you provide, say it&#8217;s lawn care and you<br />
are going to trade it for something that you need,<br />
say it&#8217;s legal work.</p>
<p>Now, here&#8217;s where it gets really cool.</p>
<p>Maybe the lawyer doesn&#8217;t need any lawn care done,<br />
so you give him a credit for a certain dollar<br />
amount worth or lawn care in exchange for his<br />
services.</p>
<p>Now, he can trade that certificate of lawn care<br />
for a different bartered service, or even sell<br />
the certificate for a certain amount of cash.</p>
<p>It&#8217;s like a gift card for work at a later date.</p>
<p>Then you will reimburse whomever brings you back<br />
the certificate with that amount of lawn care<br />
eventually.</p>
<p>Yes, this does seem complicated but there are<br />
many different bartering organizations that do<br />
this on a national level.</p>
<p>In fact, I have a local store in my hometown<br />
takes barter credits as payment, kind of like a<br />
debit card.</p>
<p>Yes, this is quite advanced, but it&#8217;s a great way<br />
to keep your business moving when you are just<br />
getting started or you are relatively cash poor<br />
and resource rich.</p>
<p>Maybe you own a print ship with some down time.<br />
Now you can literally print cash by doing some barter<br />
work for others.</p>
<p>This works for almost any business and this is only<br />
a piece of all the benefits that you get from<br />
creating or joining a network.</p>

test</span> in <span id="lw_1255365139_1" style="background: transparent none repeat scroll 0% 0%; cursor: pointer;">Nebraska</span> and I&#8217;m really energized&#8230;</p>
<p>It was a whole week of training for about 8<br />
hours a day, followed by the test on the<br />
last day.</p>
<p>I learned so much this past week my head is<br />
still spinning&#8230;</p>
<p>I picked up a ton of martial arts metaphors<br />
that totally apply to small business, so you<br />
will have to bear with me for the next few<br />
days as I proceed to regurgitate them.</p>
<p>Today&#8217;s Tip Sheet is all about protecting<br />
your castle.</p>
<p>In martial arts, your main torso is your<br />
castle and your arms and legs are your soldiers.</p>
<p>These guys are meant to take a beating so that<br />
your internal organs remain ok.</p>
<p>Well the same is true for your small business.</p>
<p>Your castle is the livelihood and prosperity<br />
of your business, while your soldiers are your<br />
marketing tools, USP, and customer service.</p>
<p>All of these soldiers go out and take a beating<br />

<p>That&#8217;s why we constantly test, that&#8217;s why we NEVER<br />
