There’s a little bit of funny stuff going on out there.

Don’t you wonder why it’s so hard to get ahead with your small business when it seems like there’s an endless supply of great product/service ideas out there?

The problem with success in small business has a lot more to do with the owner than it does with the product.

Sure you MUST have a product that people want… there is no way getting around that, but that’s one of the easiest parts.

The dirty, sticky, nasty part is the part that most people don’t spend a lot of time contemplating… and that’s following the herd by competing on PRICE.

When I say following the herd, I mean that you, as an Underdog Millionaire small business owner, must be able to step back away from your business for a minute and look at it with fresh eyes.

What are you doing that everyone else is doing and why are you doing it that way?

Here are 3 things that successful small business owners know about marketing that they don’t want YOU to know:

1. Please keep competing on price while I wait for you to run your business into the ground-

Companies that offer a low price as a marketing advantage will end up racing their competition to the bottom.

There will ALWAYS be someone else that can eventually charge a lower price than you… and that might be someone with bigger pockets that’s willing to take a loss in the short run while you go out of business.

Find out how you can create more growth with fewer customers and fewer headaches here: www.product-pricing-strategy.com

2. Show your customers that you’re selling a commodity and that you have nothing else to offer them, while I market only the unique traits of my product and sell for a high profit-

Commodities are things like gas and toilet paper. People could care less about any other trait of the product besides the price. Are you wiping the proverbial bum of your business with all your profits by positioning your product like a commodity?

Commodity businesses happen because the owner cannot find the benefits of the product beyond just a low price.

If you focus on the unique, beneficial traits of your business, you’ll find that you can charge a premium while everyone else scrambles for the bottom feeders.

If you want to know a ton of other ways that you can position your business and sell your product, without having to touch price at all, then check out this course: www.product-pricing-strategy.com

3. Cater to the lowest, most critical group of your customers while you ignore your most faithful fans-

Price buyers are your lowest level of customer. They maintain no loyalty, will cut you off as soon as something cheaper comes along, and they will tell everyone they know how much they took you to the cleaners.

Price buyers are also the people that will cause you the most stress, will steal from you, and will be the least forgiving, causing you to make the LEAST amount of money possible, while taking the most of your time.

On the flipside, if you shun the price buyer and cater to your loyal fans instead, they will stick with you through thick and thin, paying a premium for your products and services, because they are buying YOU, not just what you’re selling.

If you want to know more ways to get rid of price buyers for good and instead cater to the people that really care about your business, then give this a try: www.product-pricing-strategy.com

If you break your business brain free of the idea that you need to compete head-to-head with every other business out there on price, and instead, weave around them with the fancy footwork of a true Underdog Millionaire, then you can de-stress your life while you’re adding more to your bottom line at the same time.

In your service,

Joshua Black

www.product-pricing-strategy.com

P.S. Try to find 5 things about your product or service that have nothing to do with price, and then pick one of those, where you are the only one in your industry to do so… compete with that one thing and you might be pleasantly surprised.

I recently began discussions with a new consulting client and their concerns are probably similar to many of yours’, so I figured that I would give my two cents to you in the hopes that maybe I can help your business as well.

When you’re competing in a market with a lot of deep-pocketed “BIG Guys,” it can be a pretty intimidating venture if you’re thinking about going head-to-head.

…but we’re the LITTLE guys (or gals) and since we’re Underdog Millionaires, we aren’t going to go anywhere near competing head-to-head with those nincompoops.

We’re gonna go AROUND them like a GPS with traffic navigation.

You see, the BIG guys like to toss money out the window like it’s going out of style. They have huge advertising budgets and they know they need to spend the money or they won’t get it again next year. They rarely have ways to track their success, they just keep throwing money until they block the others out, or beat them on price.

…so why even try to compete that way?

Instead, we’re gonna Underdog it and go around them with a handful of ninja tricks that I’d like to share with you here.

5 Knock-Out, Drop-Dead Ways to Compete with The BIG BOYS:

1. Go LOCAL- People buy from people. They don’t buy from a corporation or an international conglomerate. They buy from the person on the other side of the desk, phone, or email. Position your business as the expert of your niche in your local area. Show how you know your stufff better than anyone else, no matter how deep their pockets. Give your business that local flair and that homegrown feel.

2. NEVER compete on price- Unless you want to run your business in the ground faster that you can say “food stamps,” position your business in such a way that price is not your only competitive edge. There will always be someone cheaper and you can’t buy apples for ten cents each, sell them 12 for a dollar, and make it up in volume.

If you want to become a pricing MASTER in your business, I’ve got a little course that you may be interested in here: http://www.product-pricing-strategy.com

3. Develop a Mind-Blowing USP- Your Unique Selling Proposition (USP) is the biggest promise that you can make to a customer which also shows them how you are the only business in your niche that can solve their problem exactly.

Find a short statement that explains to your customer why they should do business with you over anyone else. Get really specific. Don’t be generic and say “quality comes first with ACME carpet cleaning,” or “XYZ consulting is your choice for systems integration.”

Those say nothing to your prospect. Make a huge promise that you can live up to, which also solves the customer’s problem EXACTLY. If this totally confuses you and you want to learn how to help make you business hum with a shiny-new USP, click on over to www.UltimateUSPCreator.com

4. Cure a pain, don’t provide pleasure- People will spend TONS of money to remove a pain that they’re experiencing, whether it’s physical, emotional, or bank account-onal.

Think of it this way- If your loved one is suffering from some nasty problem that is causing them unbearable pain and you know there is a solution that you can get your hands on for $5,000 you’re going to find a way to dig up the money no matter what. That’s pain curing.

On the flip-side, if money is tight, you’re probably going to put off that Disney vacation this year, or maybe hold out on buying that sweet set of golf clubs that you always wanted.

Cure a pain for your customer in a unique way, and the big guys won’t know what hit ‘em.

5. Learn to sell with words- I’m talking copywriting folks. If you can get the right message to the right pair of eyeballs, then it won’t matter how many more competitors there are in the field.

Copywriting is selling in print. It’s multiplying that great sales pitch that you give one-on-one to each customer. If you can get that sales pitch on paper, so that you can deliver it to hundreds or thousands of people at the same time, then not only are you buying yourself more time, but your also grabbing customers on a much larger scale.

Copywriting is almost FREE. You can compete with the BIG guys by out-writing them and solving the customer’s problem on a level where you show how your product is going to make the customer smarter, prettier, richer, skinnier, happier, or stronger.

Sure, it takes a lot of testing and there is no SURE thing (that’s why were in business in the first place, right? For the sport!), but with a little practice, you can get write a pretty convincing direct marketing piece.

If you want to learn how to bring some great copy into your business check out: www.sales-letter-system.com

Okedoke, that should just about do it for today. Don’t be afraid of the BIG guys, they won’t know what hit ‘em once you start implementing some of these strategies.

Until later,

Joshua Black

Warning: today’s post is going to be full of bad fish humor and many fishing puns, so watch out and try not to get hooked!

There’s a crazy photo of a giant goldfish flying all over the Internet this week. Apparently this guy just happened to hook this beast in France. Although the photo seems a little suspect, it is possible that the fish is actually real.

So, this little fishy got me thinking…

One of the best ways to get more customers is to attract a really big one right out of the water. I’m sure you’ve heard of the 80/20 principle, eh? You know, the one where 80% of your business comes from 20% of your efforts.

Well my friend, you need to catch yourself a “big fish” as well.

It takes almost as much marketing energy to ”reel in” a large customer as it does your average Joe customer. You need to go through the same steps, bait the line, slowly reel her in, and eventually scoop her up with a big net.

The big difference between that little guppy and the giant marlin is that your big fish has a HUGE “school” of influence. When you land a large customer, or make a new contact with a person of big influence, you a multiplying your voice.

Not only does your business message get echoed from your own platform, but your new-found big-finned friend, is going to tell everyone he knows how great your product/service/solution is (provided that you do an awesome job, of course).

Now, it’s not as easy as just throwing some bait out there and hoping your big fish will bite. These guys will need a little more than that. You will have to TARGET your big fish, using the best techniques and gear that you can find.

You’ve got to find that treasured fishing spot.

You’re going to have to do a little research to make sure that you know where your big fish hangs out, what kind of bait attracts her, and even better, what kinds of things are going to keep her coming back to do more business with you.

You are going to need to give this person (I mean fish) special attention. Whether you give him your cell phone number, or you create special pricing, or perhaps a scaled incentive program, this fish MUST be made to feel as though he is at the front of the school.

Once you’ve got your big fish on the line, you need to exploit that situation to the best of your abilities. Keep in frequent contact with this person. You may even benefit from giving your services away for free, in return for a personal recommendation from him.

These kinds of personal, here-are-the-golden-keys-to-the-castle recommendations can completely shift the sales volume of your business.

So what’s my point?

Sometimes you’re doing the same thing over and over, and not surprisingly, you get the same results and the same customers. If you can get a little uncomfortable for a minute and swim on over to the deep end of the pond, you might just be able to hook yourself a giant influence-er that could change your business for the better.

If you want to change your business even MORE and learn how to attract customers in 101 different, FREE ways, then click on the link to read more. The Underdog Marketing 101 book is about to be released. During the release there are a ton of goodies that will be available for a short period of time.

There will also be a very generous affiliate program for those of you that own a blog and are looking to generate some extra cash on autopilot.

Keep your sunglasses on and watch the water… it’s coming REALLY soon!

In your service,

Joshua Black

http://www.attract-customers.com

P.S. I want to know a way that you have landed a big fish for your business. What are some of the tricks that you’ve used to bait the line and reel her in. Wait, before you make a comment, there is one rule… you have to use a terrible fishing analogy or pun to get your message across. Let’s have some fun with it.

In a recent article about cheapskate customers , there has been a push to grab business from these folks by feeding them products that supposedly save them money.

All over the world, the shelves of discount stores are chock-full of gizmos and gadgets that supposedly save you tons of cash each year, by keeping your chips from getting stale, squeezing the last bit of paste out of the toothpaste tube, and even gimmicks that help you grow your own vegetables in the house.

Sigh… in the end, the majority of these little knick-knacks do NOTHING to help the consumer save money and do everything to help extract it even more from her bank account.

So what are you supposed to do?

What are you, an honest Underdog Millionaire business owner supposed to do to show you cheapest cheapskate customers that you have something for them as well?

Just like the article notes, you need to save them money. However, don’t try to sell them a system for recycling toilet paper or turning old socks into a down comforter. Instead, you’re going to go “Godfather” on them and…

Give them an offer they can’t refuse.

You’re going to offer your customers something so good that even the cheapest of all cheapskates won’t be able to resist the pulling power of your offer. You are going to give them VALUE.

When you provide value to your customers, the word “price” is no longer in the picture. When the buying decision of your customer is solely based on the price of your product, then it turns your business into a commodity–waters where you don’t want to tread. You need a new pricing strategy instead, and that’s where VALUE comes in.

When you pile on the value, your customers no longer look at the sticker price for your product. They look at what they’re going to GET in exchange for that price. If you can show them that they’re going to get way more value in return for what they’re going to spend, then you’ve it made in the shade.

Here are 10 examples of things you can do in order to make your product more valuable:

1. Add tons of FREE bonus material

2. Give them a discounted consultation

3. Offer a audio and video package

4. Give free upgrades to your service if they buy right now

5. Use a powerful lifetime guarantee, or a guarantee that is out of the ordinary for your particular industry

6. Large discounts off future purchases

7. Free seminar

8. The ability to try out the product or service for free for a certain length of time (ex. 30 days)

9. Purchase gains them membership into an inner circle club

10. You allow them to make money by offering a commission for each buying customer that they refer to you (once they have purchased the product themselves)

Adding value is much more powerful than competing on price. If you can add the right amount of value and then demonstrate how that value will benefit your prospect, then it’ll be like kryptonite to even the most hardened cheapskate.

Speaking of value, I might as well let you in on a little secret about my new Underdog Marketing 101 book. It’s something that I shared with the people on the notification list already, but I figured that you might be interested in knowing as well.

If you download the new book during the launch week, not only do you get the stack of bonuses that it already comes with, but you’re also going to get 4 MORE BONUSES:

Recently an auction just finished up for a whole heap of items from Michael Jackson’s estate.

The prized item of the night, his white,
crystal-studded glove, went for $190,000.

Wow.

Since the King of Pop is no longer moon walking
with us, people are scrambling for any little
piece of him that they can get.

…and willing to pay HUGE piles of cash to get
it.

So what does this have to do with your own
small business? EVERYTHING.

You see, when you are developing a product
pricing strategy, you are starting with your market.

You are deciding if you are targeting people with
lots of money or people without much money.

You are deciding whether or not you want to have
a product that has a high perceived value, or
a commodity-like, discounted value.

One of the lessons that I teach in my Underdog
Pricing Report: http://www.product-pricing-strategy.com
is that you can create heirloom value out of your
stuff, just by the value that place on it.

Hence, the glove.

Just look at many of the products that we covet
on a daily basis. Their actual manufacturing costs
could be a few pennies, but the business owner
deliberately decided to only make a few of something
in order to keep the perceived value and the price
way up there.
Remember that there is no such thing as a true
price for ANYTHING. All value is perceived by the
buyer.

Just by increasing your prices, you can increase
the perceived value.

Many times, small business owners that are just
starting out, think that they don’t deserve to
command a high price for their product, so they
price it low, thinking they will make a splash
in the market.

That is a huge mistake, one that I have made myself
in the past.

If you want your customers to think that your
product or service has that heirloom value
that deserves to get such a big bag of cash, then
you need to show your customers why.

Dust off that white glove.

Put on some Billy Jean.

Add so much value to your product that your customer
will feel like they are stealing from you!

Product pricing strategy could be the most single,
import feature of a business where most people
have no idea how much money and business they have
left on the table.

I have spelled it all out for you.

I pull back the curtain, lay it all out on the
line, and give you a TON of information packed into
a solid report on how you can put MORE money in
your pocket, while doing LESS work, all with
your pricing strategy.

If you want some serious CHANGE in your small business
I highly suggest you check this out. You won’t be
sorry.

Just a single tip from this report alone could
make you thousands of dollars.

As the weekend has almost arrived, I thought I would leave you with a really valuable small business tip from none other than the wavy-haired man himself, Donald Trump.

To give you a little back-story on this, a
friend of mine who is a real estate investor
was giving a talk at a very prominent real
estate investing conference.

The showpiece guest speaker on the panel
was none other than Donald Trump.

You can imagine how my friend was sweating
bullets as he was sitting their on the panel
the “the Donald,” hoping that he wouldn’t
give any advice to the audience that would
be incorrect or not profitable.

His speech went well.

After everything was over he got an official
5 precise minutes of Mr. Trumps time and was
allowed to ask him some quick questions.

After trying to think of something profound,
my friend decided to play it safe and just
asked him for one piece of advice about business.

Here’s what the big D said…

He said “tell people just enough dirt so that
they trust you.”

This little statement could save the life of
your next sale. As you know, no one is perfect.
Therefore, business owners that try to show
that they are perfect end up losing the trust
of their customers.

This holds true for any copywriting that you
may do. Show a little skin. Give a little dirt
about your product or service.

“Our widget may not have the best paint job,
but the motor will last you 25 years or solid
service”

“We have not been around for 20 years, in fact
we just started our little business 6 months ago.
Because of that, we are going to work like hungry
animals to make sure you get the results you want.”

…something like that.

Of course you don’t want to go overboard and tell
your customer that you are a complete idiot and
couldn’t problem solve your way out of a paper
bag, or that your product doesn’t work at all.

There is a fine line between a little dirt and
way too much information.

There is so much truth to what Donald Trump said
on that fruitful day that I think it would be
wise to give it a shot in your own business.

Show that you are human and the human on the
other end of the transaction will allow you
to close the sale.

If you want some great advice for creating
your own sales letters, where you can let it
all hang out to your own customers, then
check out the Ultimate Sales Letter System
here:

http://www.sales-letter-system.com

Have a seriously awesome weekend and make
sure that you use enough hairspray to keep
that hairdo of yours in check.

Until Monday,

A Plane? Nope, Just Another Underdog Millionaire" />

So, as another weekend is upon us soon I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you for becoming subscribers to the Underdog Millionaire family.

In case you haven’t subscribed sign up in the box

where it says “free stuff” ———–>

I created the Underdog Millionaire site
in order to help you grow your small business
as painlessly as possible, and help you
get the ability to show your customers that
you are WAAAAAAY better than any other alternative
that they are going to find.

I created the Underdog Millionaire site so
that you don’t have to feel like you are alone
when you are sitting at home, frustrated at
your kitchen table, wondering if your idea is
ever going to make it.

I created the Underdog Millionaire, because
none of us can build a profitable business
without help from others. The help that each
person requires is different, so I try to
mix it up as much as possible, offering
suggestions from many different angles.

…but it’s not just about me.

It’s really about you and what you want.
It’s also about what you are not getting and
the things that you would like to know about.

I can rant and rave and crack jokes about
pea stands, my dog, or Lady Gaga all day
long, but at the end of the day, if you are
not getting out of this what you signed up
for, then I am not doing my job.

Therefore, I am humbly looking for requests.
What can I help you with in upcoming issues
of the Tip Sheet?

What product could I develop for you that
would help turn your business around?

What business problem are you having that
is totally keeping you up at night, wondering
how if you are going to make it through to
the other side?

What would you like to change about the
Underdog Millionaire if you could?

What do you think I’m doing well and want
to see more of?

The more input that I can get back from you,
my customers, the more I can customize the
site, hone it to perfection, and provide you
with that one, safe haven that you can go

So I was out driving again, and the kid with the pea stand that I talked about a few days ago, was back.

…and guess what?

There he was, sitting alone behind the most
beautiful pea stand you have ever seen.

All shined up. Great rainbow-colored umbrella.
Tons of good-looking inventory. Polite demeanor.
Perfect location with parking on a very well-
traveled street with a slow speed limit.

You couldn’t get much better than that.

Except for one thing.

No one in their right mind is going to interrupt
what they are doing and pull over to buy some
peas.

It just isn’t going to happen no matter how many
parking spaces there are, or how great the stand
looks.

This is a huge dillemma that many entrepreneurs
face… and you may have faced it too at some point.

When you are creating a new product, you need to
make sure their is a HUNGRY audience for it in
advance.

If you have to train your customers that they need
what you are selling, then you are taking the long
road to not-so-fun-ville.

This kid might be a pea expert.

He could probably sit there all day and spin tales
about the world’s biggest pea, or that one time
he was chased by a wild squirrel through the pea
field, but that won’t help him sell those round,
green, little buggers.

I don’t mean to get so preachy today, but it’s
such a critical thing that you have to make sure
that you are aware of, when you are creating
something new.

You are actually doing your customers a disservice
if you are creating the wrong product for them,
because you probably have the right idea inside
you. You just need to flesh it out.

If you already have an established business, be
weary of line extension items that may seem like
a really good idea, but in reality are just a bunch
of baskets of peas sitting on your shelf or in your
repertoire.

Kick over that pea stand in your own business!

Give your customers something they are really
hungry for.

People will pay really good, hard-earned money
to buy stuff they really want, but will hold
off to the last possible second to buy stuff
they need.

We might NEED peas, but we WANT a cheeseburger.
Guess which one gets purchased?

If you are looking for a new business to start,
or you want to learn how to develop your own
product, come on over to the Dark Side and learn
how to develop your own information product.

Over the weekend, the infamous Lady Gaga decided that she was going to crash yet another baseball game with her crazy antics.

…it went over like a lead balloon, since
the Yankees lost the game.

If Lady Gaga had been a member of the Underdog
Millionaires, she might have known better and
skipped her little escapade.

You see, instead of barging your business into
the customer’s life, you need to ease your way
in, by finding what they want, developing a
relationship and serving it to them shaken,
not stirred.

When you are out there in the trenches, some
times it gets really hard to ease up and not
want to SHOUT your marketing messages in the
faces of anyone that will listen.

…just look at our brothers and sisters in the
interruption advertising business. They get
paid based on how many people they shout at,
rarely on the actual performance of the ad
itself, why? Because they have no way to track
it.

Well, you and I know better, right?

We are going develop a plan for your customers
to go Gaga over your product or service.

It all starts with your USP and the biggest
promise that you are going to make for your
customers. Check this out:
http://www.ultimateUSPcreator.com

Once you have made that promise then you
need to develop a strategy for getting your
message across, and finding the most buying
customers as you can.

The way you do that is with marketing. However,
marketing plans can end up to be pretty pricey
and that is usually the last thing that a
small business owner has to throw around, money.

So, in order to be able to play with the big
kids and compete on a level that you deserve,
even though you might not have the budget to
get you there, I developed something.

It’s called the Underdog Marketing 101 course.

It contains 101 different FREE techniques for
getting more customers to your bank account, with
hundreds of tips in total.

If you can find something in there that will help
your business, then you probably never had much
of a business in the first place.

It’s not available yet, but you will be the
first to know, of course.

This is my largest course to date, and I know
that you will get some real value of this puppy.

Stay tuned. It’s coming soon.
So, what do you think about all of the interruption
advertising that we are faced with?

Are you using it successfully in your business? I’d
like to know.

What kind of methods do you use in your small
business in order to bring in customers successfully?
We’re all family here. Let ‘em out.

Post your ideas BELOW.

Until tomorrow,

Please excuse my headline today. I just couldn’t resist…

You see, I was driving in the country yesterday (there is a lot of country near me) and I passed by the most bizarre form of roadside vending that I have ever seen.

The normal standard for roadside food is
the vegetable or fruit stand.

Local farmers or people just trying to make
some extra cash will set up a stand along
the road and sell a huge variety of foods.

…that was until yesterday.

Yesterday was different.

Yesterday changed my life forever.

Well, not really, but it made me whip my head
around in disbelief.

What I originally thought was a hotdog stand,
turned out to be a pea stand.

Yes, these people were only selling peas and
nothing else.

They also didn’t have a single customer and
stands like this usually have a group of people
waiting to pay.

So what happened?

They violated small business rule number one.

Sell something that people want. I mean, sure
people like peas, but are they really going to
pull the car over, and stop just to get a fistful
of peas?

Apparently not.

Next time you think of the most novel idea on the
planet, please check with your customers first
to find out of it’s a good idea or not.

Otherwise YOU might pea on your small business.

I am just finishing up the Underdog Marketing 101
book, so pretty soon you will have the opportunity
to download 101 different techniques for bringing
more customers into your business for free.

Have a great and powerful weekend.

Until Monday,
