I just got back from teaching a room full
of booger-filled, swine flu carrying small
children at karate class.
It’s always fun to try and maintain their
attention.
However, I got a real ear-full from one of
them today, so I figured that I would pass
on this valuable lesson.
Now, I hold two black belts in Karate and
I’m not saying that to brag, but to make a
point.
As we go higher in rank, we are supposed to
share our knowledge so that others can
benefit as well (sounds like real life huh?).
So this little girl came up to me and asked
me why I hadn’t been in to teach the kids
class in a few weeks.
I made a wisecrack that I had been slacking
off and that I would try to come more often.
…little did I know that I was about to
get a business lesson.
She proceeded to lay into me about how I
should come in more often and that I shouldn’t
slack because that would be a bad example for
her, yadda yadda yadda…
So, what’s the point?
The point is consistency. Your customers need
it just as much as the booger farmers do.
Your customers want to know that they are
going to get the SAME (hopefully positive)
experience every time they visit your
business.
The only way to do that right is to start
with your unique selling proposition (USP)
and build up from there.
