Still in Vermont on business this week, so
again I am sending you a late Tip Sheet.
While I was here I learned an interesting
piece of trivia.
You see, billboards are illegal along the
highways throughout the entire state of
Vermont.
Nothing but green-ness.
Which is very cool for the view, but very
lousy for business, I’m sure.
Vermont has a little sales lesson in this
for all of us.
It might be even more of a business design
lesson.
No matter what you do, don’t count on one
source of marketing and lead generation for
any reason.
It’s like having a one-legged stool.
They will kick it out from under you just
when your not looking and then your income
will dry up overnight.
Create a 500-legged stool.
Create multiple sources for your customers.
Maybe you just get one or two from this
little thing over here and a few more from
another project.
Little amounts add up, especially if it’s a
constant drip.
If your entire business comes from one source
of advertising, the first thing you need to
do before anything else is to diversify
your stream of income.
What if all of your customer came from Adwords
and Google just decided to shut you down for
no reason?
You could lose all of your income in seconds.
I’ll bet the Vermont business owners have it
figured out, since they are all in the same boat.
Create multiple products with multiple customer
sources. That way you can still survive if one
of your customer streams decides to pack up and
leave you.
Just get out there and diversify.
Ok, that’s it,
