your customer. So many of our customers are
lost out there and we need to show them a map
to get to our businesses.
You see, most customers only try to come up
with solutions to the problems they have.
…but they are not out there looking for
solutions to problems that they DON’T KNOW
they have.
It sounds pretty obvious right?
I mean, if you didn’t think there was a way
you could get electricity for free, you wouldn’t
go looking for it.
But too many business owners automatically
assume that their customers know about their
businesses and want what these businesses have.
…these are the businesses that fail.
…these are the businesses that just open their
doors or their website and just assume people
will come running.
I almost lost a business that way and I’m sure
you might have as well.
So, instead we are going to provide each customer
with a map, a really obvious way for them to know
exactly what we will do for them and how we are
the only business in town that will provide that
service.
This map is called your Unique Selling Proposition
or USP.
Your USP is the single most important foundation
of your marketing plan. Without it you will have
a shotgun blast approach to getting customers.
Your USP keeps your entire business under one
guideline, from the way you answer your phone to
the way your uniforms look, to the way your invoices
look.
The businesses that have a well-crafted USP and
design their business culture around it will do
much better at getting and keeping customers than
the ones that try something new whenever the wind
blows a different direction.
