If you are trying to boost the sales of your product or service, and the methods that you are currently using have not really done your sales level much justice, then you might want to consider using direct marketing.
Direct marketing is the process where you are selling to one customer at one time, just like you would with face-to-face selling. However, the big difference is that you can multiply your efforts with direct marketing, reaching thousands of people with the same message at one… using a sales letter.
A sales letter may be the most powerful tool in your marketing arsenal. A properly crafted sales letter can generate hundreds or thousands of new sales into your business without you having to lift a finger once you create the letter.
Here are 7 reasons that you might want to try direct marketing to sell your stuff:
1. You can immediately push your reader’s hot buttons, creating an emotional experience where you show your customer how their current problem can be solved with only your product. This puts you in the driver’s seat and keeps them reading, wanting to know more.
2. You can target your customer with pin-point accuracy- With regular interruption advertising (radio, TV, most magazine ads, telephone book) you have to try and market to everyone out there, hoping that your buying customer will notice. When you use direct marketing, you are matching the customer and the sales letter together, putting a pre-qualified prospect in front of your product.
3. You can sell almost anything with direct marketing- In fact, I cannot think of any service or product that would not benefit from this method.
4. You can test every small part of your sales letter and direct marketing process. As you as you get a letter that sells, you can start tweaking small parts of it in order to increase your closing ration at almost no cost. Try doing that with a radio ad, or telephone book ad.
5. A sales letter is like an automatic cash-printing machine- There are many people out there that run a sales letter campaign every time they need an injection of cash into their business. Once they have tweaked their letter to close at a particular rate, they know that if they mail 500 letters, or send 500 emails, they will get $10,000 back every time (just an example).
6. Once you have a successful sales letter, you don’t have to write a new one- All you do is keep sending it out, or keep sending people to your web site and the letter will keep working as long as the information is still useful for the prospect.
7. You are multiplying your efforts (kind of like cloning yourself). If you have to sell person to person, you can only be in one place at a time and many times clients will skip their appointments, re-schedule, or just plain waste your time. With a sales letter, you direct marketing process is doing all of the heavy lifting for you.

Sounds really great – the price of printing continually goes down due to to better printers or you could always do an email drop.
At work, we usually do a bit of direct marketing and each time it goes out we always get a really nice boost in sales.
Murlu,
Yes, by repeatedly mailing the same list consistently you can gain additional sales each time that you do it just because some people take longer to convince than others.
