So I was looking at the junk entertainment
news online this morning.
I came across a 5 year old weightlifter that
was just inducted into the Guinness Book of
World Records.
He had been training since he was 2!
I feel bad for the poor kid and I can’t believe
his parents would exploit him like that, but
there’s always a bright side to each story.
He probably didn’t know it, but he is our
business guru for the day.
Now he’s famous on two fronts…
Anyway, the point I’m trying to make is that
you should not try and grow your business too
fast or too prematurely.
Like the little powerhouse, your business
could end up with stunted growth and signs of
premature aging well before its time if you
try to expand before you are ready.
Not only do you have to have the infrastructure
to be able to grow, but you have to have the
mindset.
If your mind is operating on 5 clients per year
and you expand to 100 clients the next year,
it will be a recipe for disaster.
Take it slow and add a few sprinkles of growth
each year until the business takes on a life
of its own.
Planning for growth and massive expansion on
paper is very important, but do it in moderation.
Slower growth is also much easier to predict
from year to year.
Sure you will have some windfalls and you would
be an idiot to try and slow that down, but try
not to force massive growth on your business
before it is ready.
Age your business like a fine wine or some really
good cheese (and I love cheeese) and it will reward
you for years to come.
Now go put down your dumbells and work on treating
your customers like gold so they stick with you
forever.
Until tomorrow,
Joshua Black
P.S. If you want a great way to grow your business
in a measured, slow way, you need to use direct
marketing.
If you want the best way to use direct marketing,
you need to use sales letters.
