5 Confidence-Building Tips to Increase the Closing Rate of Your Sales Letters

sales letter confidence

by Joshua Black

In small business it’s all about confidence.
Whether you are just getting started or you
are closing a huge majillion dollar deal, if
you aren’t confident with what you are doing,
then your customer won’t believe you either.
Well, since sales letters are nothing more
than a confident sales pitch in print, you
need to be sure that your letters are oozing
with confidence as well.

If you don’t keep a high level of confidence
when you are writing your sales letters and
creating your marketing material, that ho-
hum attitude will seep through to your
customer and they won’t buy a thing.

I’m sure you want to sell a few things, so
here are 5 tips that you can use to make sure
that your sale letters and advertisements
are oozing with self-confidence:

1. Fake it ’till you make it. Here, I’m not
talking about lying and pretending you are
something that you’re not. I’m talkin’ about
FEELING like you are successful even if you
haven’t got there yet.

2. Use confident terms in your sale letters.
Don’t use wishy-washy statements like “We
really need your business,” or “we can’t
wait for you to come down to out little
shop and see if we meet your standards.”

Instead you should say something like “we
are the best in the industry and we dare you
to even think about challenging that with
any other competitor.”  BOOM!

3. BELIEVE in what you are selling. If you
hate your business or your product, so will
everyone else that gets near you or reads what
you have to say.

4. Show that you are an expert. Show where
you have been featured, how many awards you’ve
won, anything that you can use to pat yourself
on the proverbial back.

5. If you don’t feel confident in your business
at that particular moment, step away from the
keyboard with your hands up!

If you are having a crappy day, just blow it
off until you are feeling better about yourself.
There is nothing worse than a sales letter written
by someone that isn’t confident at the moment
they wrote it.

Now if you really want to write some serious
sales letters for your business that could knock
the socks off of your previous sales, you need

Hey Joshua,
Good points, and
Yep, I’m a big believer that you have to truly “believe” that your product can help folks. You then put your passion behind explaining the benefits to them as a reader/customer.

If we don’t believe in it, why should they???

Joshua, #3 is dead on. If you don’t believe in your product then people will see right through you. Keep it up man!

Hey Joshua,

It is important that you picture yourself at your goal before getting there. So I must say that #1 is so important. Because if you have the attitude of success it will come!

Hi Joshua,

Love that picture!

Great points! You don’t want to come across as weak., because your customers/clients can ‘smell’ that, like a junkyard dog smells fear. Not a good thing!

I especially like #3. Without belief goes nothing!

Cheers and have a great day!

Ilka,

…really like your point about the junkyard dog. Thanks for stopping by.

Tommy DiPietro

Hey Joshua,

This list is dead on.
I send videos out to my customers
and always send out product and customer
information. My retention rate is high due to
my follow up and the value I offer.

If I lose a customer, I follow up with a sales
letter that offers a discount to get them
back, 50/50 with that one, but it does
keep a couple of customers.
